1976 Longines Ultronic Swiss Made Tuning Fork Watch

You are looking at a beautiful and desirable vintage Longines watch in perfect working order. From the days when employee loyalty was not only appreciated, but rewarded - GENEROUSLY! These were among the costliest of Swiss watches in their time. There is some light wear on the case and crystal, but I have seen much worse disappear with a skilful polish job. The case is marked "10k gold filled bezel", and is inscribed "Saskatchewan Wheat Pool R.J. Wilson 25 Years 1976" (please note that I do not have a lot of resources to date watch movements, so I am basing the age on this inscription. It's possible that the inner workings may reveal an earlier date). This is one of the Longines dials with raised numeral indicators which the second hand passes below. The movement and case back are signed. I do not believe the bracelet is original to the watch, though it looks to me to be a correct style was sought for a replacement by whoever changed it.

Case (lug to lug)             40mm
Case (without crown)    41mm
Case (with crown)         43mm
Lugs (bracelet width)    18mm
Movement                 ESA 6312 (tuning fork)

This is a gorgeous timepiece with great symmetry and design. The tuning fork movement was an horological marvel that bridged the technological gap from mechanical only movements to the quartz movements that followed, and preceded the era of cheap and plentiful timepieces for all. This electromechanical movement provided much greater accuracy than it's predecessors, and is still admired today for this quality. A must have for collectors of Longines, Bulova, or cool watches in general. All yours without breaking open the piggy bank! This is a hard to buy watch, and nearly impossible at a price as low as this!
