Heirloom Traditions Paint is a Chalk Paint and is a FLAT FINISH.  

The beauty of using Chalk paint is the paints ability to absorb a wax topcoat.  This wax top coat is what makes the painted finish come to life.  If you are buying chalk paint to finish furniture items or any other surface, you need to wax the painted surface.

Waxes and Color Information

:

HTP Waxes come in a variety of colors and clear.  If you are choosing a colored wax, remember it will change the look of the paint. 

 

Dark Umber  will will tone down and age the paint color.

 

White Lime wax will soften the color of the paint as well as tone is down.  

Rusted Metal wax will tone and change the paint color to give it a rusty look.  This wax works best on neutral paints or the yellow family of colors.  

Barn Wood wax will grey down the paint finish soften it as well. 

Muddy Pond wax will tone and soften and add a taupe colored warmth to the paint.

Clear Wax can be used when you prefer to have no paint color change.  

Important Final Step:

All colored waxes need to be sealed with a final top coat of clear wax.
