Why pay more for a Genuine 'VDO' Branded Part?
It's pretty simple, most cheaper parts available on the internet which are 'unbranded' will often be made as cheap as possible in China. There is no problem with parts being produced in China however where there is a problem is that in many cases the component quality will be significantly lower and QC (quality control) will be very little or indeed nonexistent. Often the sellers that provide them will also trade without product liability insurance because many commercial insurance companies will not insure a company that has production in China without a upto date QC program in place.
If you compare that to Major branded items that have the highest level of component quality and the very best QC then for this reason many major branded parts will outlast cheaper parts 10 to 1 in some cases! Engine management parts that control fuel / air / trim / mixture are important to the ECU and need to be as accurate as possible, cheaper parts can sometimes provide 10-20% less MPG and in some cases cause engine damage from either under fuelling (lean) or over-fuelling (rich) your engine! Do not fool yourself into thinking that you will save yourself lots if you buy a cheaper unbranded unit. You may well end up having problems with the part failing in a short period, less MPG and or possibly causing engine damage over a longer period of time. Ask yourself the question - is it really worth the risk / hassle, also on engine management parts to experience less MPG when fuel is very expensive these days!?
Now VDO is a major German brand, they make the original Factory OE part (Original Equipment) that is installed on vehicles from new when they are produced. Therefore in many cases if you went to a dealership parts department to purchase an original part, even though its branded as the vehicle manufacturer, the actual part will be produced and stamped by the Major brand who built the part. Whether that be HELLA, BOSCH, VDO etc (MAJOR BRANDS). Therefore you can rest assured that this part is one of the highest quality parts that money can buy and is the same quality as the part that was installed on the vehicle from new.
Is this the right part for my vehicle?
Please see the compatibility table at the top of the listing to check that this part fits your car by checking your cars make, model, engine size, engine model, KW/HP and year. Any problems or if you are unsure please email us.
You can also check your part number from your old unit and see if it matches any of the part numbers we have included in the item specifics at the top of this listing in the 'PART MANUFACTURER NUMBER' or 'OE/OEM REFERENCE' box.
Remember that Part number is always KING - if the part number is a complete match then the part will normally be the correct replacement for you. Providing the correct part was installed on the vehicle when it was purchased!
Please note all fitment application lists in this listing are to be used as GUIDES therefore it is the buyers responsibility to purchase the correct fitting part.
The best way to replace a faulty car part is to get the part number from the existing unit, see below for information on how to obtain it.
What part do I need?
Part numbers are normally stamped on the outside housing of the unit or on the top of the unit. If you find "PBT-30" stamped on the housing, note that it is the reference for the type of plastic used in manufacturing and not the part number itself. If in doubt email us and we will confirm which part you require from your vehicle registration number or vehicle details (if you are from outside of the UK). You can also request a quote for any part by clicking on the 'Part Quote' Button at the top of the description.
