Originally released in 1973 on the Harvest/EMI label,  MFSL re-released the album as an Ultra High Quality Recording in May of 1981 and it is this  version that is considered to be the "definitive" one. Personally, I've heard at least a dozen different versions; including the MFSL regular "half-speed"Lp, MFSL Gold Audiophile CD, Toshiba/EMI "Pro-Use Series" Lp, 1st UK pressing Lp, SACD, 1st UK CD...and several others.  While every one of these are excellent, the only one that is worth doing an A/B comparison with is the 1st UK vinyl pressing  (SHVL 804) on the "solid blue triangle" label. But the UHQR pressing on offer here is the better choice and one of the reasons is simple: High quality virgin vinyl.  After a few plays, the UK pressing is more easily prone to static disturbances and other problems.  This rarely happens with the UHQR pressings.  In addition, the low end frequencies are more defined and there is less "blurring".  You don't get posters,  stickers, or the famous Hipgnosis/George Hardie  designed gatefold cover art. What you do get is sensational, mind-blowing audio to finally do justice to the three-dimensional soundscape of instruments and special effects created for this record.

Condition of UHQR Box: Near Mint-....these boxes are easily damaged but this one has survived quite well. Some light scuffing on the sides and only one corner that has sustained any real visible wear. No rips, tears, or gashes....this is a very nice example.

Condition of Technical Specs Manual, numbered/signed certificate, heavy-duty protective inner, Numbered sleeve, protective foam (x2): Near Mint

Condition of UHQR Record: Near Mint(minus)....both sides play beautifully all the way through with the normal, odd but rarely heard, light tick.   The ONLY issue worth mentioning comes about a minute into the 4th song on Side 2  (Brain Damage) when some light "ticks" are heard for about 20 seconds....that's it!  Believe me, this very minor detail will in no way detract from the stunning audio on this record. I mention it because it's important to do so and just in case the buyer turns out to be a very  discerning audiophile like myself.  If not for this very very minor issue, my asking price would have been $750.00.

I will always combine shipping.

European buyers....please contact me for shipping rates/options before paying invoice...thanks.
