The Story :

On the Island of Mata Nui all was well. There were six tribes who lived in different areas on the island, each filled with small vallagers called Matoran and led by a Turaga elder. The Turaga are former Toa who have sacrificed their power for the greater good of the Matoran. They continue to live their lives as Turaga to help and guide the Matoran.

The Character :

Turaga Nokama knows the most about the oceans and rivers - except for Gali herself. Nokama has a reputation for resolving disagreements and bringing the Turaga together with her practical logic. Every Turaga respects the way she listens to all sides of a discussion.

As a Turaga Nokama is always telling people what the Turaga say they should keep secret, such as telling Jaller where the Toa Nuva went. On Mata Nui, she has the responsibility of supervising Ga-Koro. She promised not to share any information about their life on Metru Nui. She, out of all the Turaga, was the most uncomfortable with this decision.

During the Great War, Nokama did all that she could to help her Matoran out. About the time that the Toa Mata did arrive, Nokama and her villagers were trapped into a Matoran hut by the Tarakava. The hut sank beneath the waves and they were saved by Takua and Gali, who defeated the Tarakava.

Nokama is basically light and dark blue, she is the third smallest of the Turaga. As a Turaga, Nokama weilds a fork shaped staff, a trident. Her fork shaped staff is only found in blue in this set (in one other set it is black and in one other set it's dark grey), so its very rare. Her mask is the Kanohi Rau, quite different to the Toa masks and quite plain in detail.

Fusions

A Turaga Nui is a legendary sage, said to be the combination of six Turaga. The toos and Noble Kanohi of a Turaga Nui would depend on the fused Turaga.

Another type of being, called a Turaga Kaita, can be formed by the fusion of three Turaga.

Both Turaga Kaita and Turaga Nui would have increased strength as a result of the merge.

TURAGA

A Turaga is what a Toa becomes when he/she gives away all his power. Two examples are the Turaga of Mata Nui who gave away their power to wake up the Matoran. Another example is when Lhikan gave all his power into 6 Toa Stones. Toa can give their power into one or two Toa Stones (see Maze of Shadows) without becoming Turaga. The known Turaga are:
