Jaret Owens, founder of Alaska Guide Creations, is credited by many as the originator of the Binocular Chest Pack - he created the first version in the mid 70's over 35 years ago.  As a hunting guide Jaret perfected the Bino Pouch System over decades of climbing mountains, crawling through alder thickets in Southern Alaska, & as an exclusive guide on Santa Cruz Island.  Out of necessity to protect one of his most valued possessions he designed a pack to prevent his binoculars from bouncing & dragging, keeping them secure while easy to access. The shoulder straps eliminate neck tension while the binoculars are protected from dust, rain, & snow. Over the years he's redesigned the pack considering pocket size, & configuration. The pack was created for active people & works great for birding, backpacking, hunting, horseback & ATV riding. Backpackers say the Bino Chest Pack helps offset the weight of their backpack & allows easy access to frequently used items.  It's been used to carry small video cameras, for fishing, skiing, & kayaking, & makes a handy travel case. 


Bino Pack Size & Fit

This is the Regular size Bino Chest Pack.  It was designed for small to mid sized roof prism binoculars like the Swarovski 8.5/10/12 x 32/42/50mm binos.  It will accomodate objective lenses up to 50mm in diameter.  The Bino Pack's main compartment accomodates binoculars up to approximately 7.5 inches tall x 5.5 inches wide x 3 inches thick.  If you're binos don't fit you can always return or exchange for the large size.  

Concerning harness straps - one size fits all, adjusting from women's XS to men's XXL.  The straps are made of non stretch nylon so they will not sag like elastic.  You can use the Bino Chest Pack with or without a separate neck strap attached to your binoculars.  Jaret prefers a simple nylon parachute cord attached to his binos that fits loosely around the neck, or can be attached to the chest pack.

 

Bino Pack Description

The main binocular compartment has a smooth nylon lining with a quick release lid for fast quiet access.  There are 4 outer pockets - three in front, one in back.  The two side pockets are great for lens cleaning equipment, tripod adapter, & other essentials such as meds, fire starter & headlamp.  The front pocket will accommodate a small digital camera, cell phone, or wallet.  The back pocket is great for flat items like a tag, license, or small map.  A new double elastic strap has been added to the top of the lid to hold a smart phone, small GPS device, or two way radio.  Click the links below to read what others are saying about the AGC Bino Chest Pack:
