Lot of 12 Ceramic Parakeets in Shades of Purple

I'm really having trouble figuring out the original purpose of these little birds. They are made from a light ceramic material and have a small hole right behind their neck (this hole varies in size between the birds). This leads me to think they may have been intended as ornaments (which would be beautiful) or for some other art type project.

Each sweet little parakeet measures a little over 4 1/2" long from head to tip of tail. 

• The birds you receive may have different wing configurations then those shown (may be raised away from body). 

No chips or other significant condition issues.  

Some areas are rough where glaze is missing. 

Subtle shading and coloring differences in each bird due to being hand painted.
