People who have never owned a Japanese-made anime wall scroll might want to know what the difference is. It's simple - authentic Japanese anime scrolls are better than other anime scrolls in every conceivable way. Here are just a few reasons why:
- Fabric Quality: Scrolls are printed on a single layer of a silky, high-quality polyester that the Japanese call polyester suede. The fabric is soft and smooth to the touch, and the print quality on this fabric produces vibrant colors and an image resolution that would be impossible on inferior fabrics. See photos below.
- Durability: Polyester suede is tough and can survive a lot of strain and dampness. Scroll maintenance is also phenomenally easy. Accidentally get a wrinkle in your scroll? Just steam-iron the wrinkle on low-medium heat and the scroll will be good as new! In comparison, the rough fabrics used in Western-made scrolls do not do well with an iron.
- Size: This scroll is HUGE! You can't get much bigger than B0 wall scrolls, and the characters on these scrolls are usually life-size or even larger. This one scroll is all you need to transform a bland room into an anime wonderland. See photos below to get a sense of the overwhelming size.
- Rarity: These scrolls feature art by the most famous anime-style artists in Japan, and are produced in very limited quantities. They are often sold exclusively for only a short period of time at annual or biannual events like Comic Market, and are highly sought after by Japanese anime fans. They are almost impossible to find in the West without a Japanese contact.
