Schizanthus Pinnatus is an annual, native to Chile, South America. It produces almost fern like foliage, in lance shaped leaves to around 12 cm in length. It is a beautiful exotic looking orchid flower on attractively fern foliage!

From spring to Autumn, it produces two lipped flowers each to around 3m in diameter, in shades  of pink, white, yellow purple or red, spotted in spots or streaks of contrasting colours. A beautiful flowered plant, deserving of its name of poor mans orchid! Grows to a height of around 30 to 50 cm in height  and a spread of around 20 to 30 cm. Minimum recommended temperature of around 5°C.

Press seeds gently into warm soil, about 70 degrees F. Water well and keep moist. Germination in 7 -40 days, so be patient as they are worth the wait.
