MODULES AND POINTERS ARE NOT THE SAME. This is not a sale for a pointer.

The diode that is used in this laser module is brand new, and was not extracted from a Blu-ray burner sled, as is visible by its long, uncut pins.
They are rated by the manufacturer for 170mW pulse, however they can be driven to provide over 150mW continuously (an additional heatsink may be required for prolonged operation of over 25 seconds at this power level). The SLD3234VF diode used in this module is more powerful than the PHR-803T and PHR-805T diode that is frequently extracted from Blu-ray RW drives by laser hobbyists. This diode can be run up to a maximum current of 170 milliamps at the risk of diode life being shortened. One extraordinarily resilient diode lased past 190 milliamps in a destruction test, but this current level is absolutely not recommended. As an example of the ability of this diode, the images above show the laser module with proper power supply lasing at 120 milliamps with more than enough power to impress. This diode is a standard 5.6mm (TO-18) package that has been pressed to the point of recession in an Aixiz module. The only required components for proper operation will be a laser driver and a battery. Also, this module features a threaded lens to allow for focal point adjustment. Through the manual adjustment of the lens, a few different effects can be attained. The first effect is "flash light", with the lens completely screwed in, next is beam with the lens at small distance from the diode, and finally burning with the focal spot being the highest concentration of laser power.

Recommended parameters (and warnings) for use.....

Use ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD) protection at all times when handling these and any other laser modules.

Do not power up module unless a proper driving circuit or otherwise stable power source is used.

Do not point at people, ANY vehicles, animals, satellites, buildings, or yourself.

THIS LASER WILL BLIND YOU PERMANENTLY IF YOU LOOK INTO THE BEAM....SO DON'T! Also, please use laser safety goggles, as even glancing reflection can do damage to the eye.

Maximum voltage:  6.2 volts

Absolute maximum current(potential diode death): 170-180 milliamps

Threshold current: ~40 milliamps

Optimum current/voltage(for decent diode lifetime): 6.0 volts @ 120 milliamps**

The sale is for one SLD3234VF laser diode pressed in an Aixiz module with leads soldered. It only requires a laser driver and battery for operation.

** PLEASE NOTE: Some of these diodes will lase more strongly than others at a specific current. So, please heed the new recommended driving current of 120 milliamps. In a recent test using a G2 lens and laser power meter, a few diodes were pushed till diode death.

One diode produced an output of over 155mW at 130 milliamps. In an identical test, a diode produced over 215mW at 190 milliamps. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE WHICH DIODES WILL LASE MORE STRONGLY BEFORE SHIPMENT AT THE PRESENT TIME. So, if you have any issues with your setup, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Also note that the driving currents that are recommended here are above the manufacturer recommended driving currents. This is is called "over driving", and is standard among hobby laser technology.

These modules are ALWAYS shipped in ESD packaging, and are TESTED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SHIPMENT @ 100ma to ensure lasing. Please use these lasers safely and legally because the BUYER ASSUMES ALL RESPONSIBILITY UPON PURCHASE. Thanks for buying, and remember that the advancement of hobby laser technology relies on laser remaining legal, so please use carefully.
