Без гроша в кармане, не владея ногами, крестьянин не рискнул отправиться в путешествие. Но святой старец явился ему второй, третий раз и уже настолько грозно приказал исполнить повеление, что несчастный пьяница немедленно отправился в путь, преодолевать который ему пришлось на четвереньках.
Придя в монастырь и рассказав о своих сновидениях, страждущий попросил отслужить молебен. Но никто в монастыре не знал иконы Божией Матери с названием Неупиваемая Чаша. Тогда кому-то пришла мысль: а не та ли это икона Богородицы, которая висит в проходе из храма в ризницу с изображением чаши. И каково же было удивление всех, когда на обратной стороне иконы действительно увидели надпись: «Неупиваемая Чаша». Знаменательно было и то, что, взглянув на икону преподобного Варлаама, ученика святителя Московского Алексия, недугующий крестьянин сразу же узнал того старца, который являлся ему во сне. Из Серпухова он возвратился вполне здоровым.
Весть о чудном прославлении иконы Божией Матери Неупиваемая Чаша быстро распространилась не только в Серпухове, но и по всей России. Одержимые страстью пьянства, их родные и близкие спешили к чудотворной иконе смолитвами об исцелении от недуга, и многие, очень многие, приходили уже для того, чтобы возблагодарить Богородицу за Её милость.
В настоящее время в возрождённом Серпуховском Высоцком монастыре каждое воскресенье по окончании Божественной литургии совершается молебен с акафистом и водоосвящением, за которым поминают имена тех, кто страдает пристрастием к винопитию и нуждается в благодатной помощи Божией Матери.
