Up for sale is a recent Estate Auction find, a Vintage 1940's SIGNED DASON Davidson & Sons of New York UNUSUAL Peaked Cut 9ct Blue Spinel 10k Solid Yellow Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. This ring is stamped "DASON" the trademark used by Davidson & Sons, New York established in 1936. This 7.2 Gram (0.25 Ounce) 1/4 Ounce Vintage 1940's 10k Solid Yellow Gold Ring is set with a Beautiful 9ct 14x12mm BLUE SPINEL with amazing BRIGHT BLUE COLOR and NEAR PERFECT CLARITY. This spinel has SUPERB LUSTER. This spinel is an Unusual Rectangular Peaked Faceted Cut and really catches the light with beautiful parallel factes. The way this spinel is faceted makes it sparkle like a disco ball. The Spinel Gemstone has a storied history because famous rubies & sapphires in crown jewels around the world are actually spinels. The most famous is the Black Prince's ruby, was actually a fantastic 170-carat red spinel that now adorns the Imperial State Crown of England in the British Crown Jewels. The spinel is now a treasured gemstone on its own, spinel is a favorite of gem dealers and collectors because if its brilliance, hardness and wide range of spectacular colors. This gemstone tests as a spinel on a Presidium Gem Tester and a reflectometer and is a very high quality lab grown spinel. A Lab Grown Spinel has the exact same physical, optical, and chemical properties of a Natural Spinel meaning it is as hard and scratch resistant. The waves and swirls on the spinal in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections because the polished surface is difficult to photograph. Regarding Ring Sizing: Be wary of any online seller that offers sizing of a ring before it is shipped to you. Due to differences in measuring devices and the way certain types of rings fit these rings should only be sized in person by your local jeweler. Sizing by your local jeweler is relatively inexpensive and you will have a ring that properly fits your finger. All size 9 rings are not the same. The ring may fit on a mandrel and measure as a size 9 but the way the ring is made, the way the ring has been enlarged or reduced, and the finger type you have may make it fit like an 8 or 10 or worse. Have your sizing done in person for a proper fit.

The tall measurement is the distance from the bottom or shank of the ring to the middle peak of the gemstone most easily measured when wearing the ring and placing the hand flat on the table and measuring the height of the ring from the table. The wide measurement is the width of the ring from outside to outside at the widest point when looking at the ring from the top. The rise from the finger measurement is the height of the ring from the finger to the peak of the gemstone when worn.

In the final photo the tick marks on the L-Square are 1 millimeter apart.
