RL Troutman & Co., classic men's clothing, accessories & fly fishing gear is pleased to offer:

VERY RARE hand-made Tonkin cane 3-piece fly rod from work room of famous championship fly-caster Jack B. Schneider.  8' -9" length, two-piece, two tips (one tip is shorter than other tip).  Weight is 4.9 oz. with tip #1 (longer tip); 4.8 oz. with shorter tip #2.  This rod came to me from a life-long friend in Northern California who inherited it from his dad, really would rather not part with it but age/health/finances make it necessary for him, so we are helping out.  Jack Schneider was a close friend of my friend's parents. Jack got them started in competition fly-casting in late 40s-early 50s, and made this rod for them to use; it was never fished, only used in fly-casting competitions.  My friend remembers going with his parents to Jack's home in San Jose, CA, where they tried it out on a casting pool in Jack's back yard.  Jack is believed to have made fewer than 100 bamboo fly rods, never sold them for profit, usually made for friends.  My friend was told by his dad that this blank was made for Jack by Tony Maslan and is a Hollow-Built design (I had it looked over by another friend who is a renowned rod-maker who verifies that it's a hollow-built blank).   Jack was a fly-fishing friend of Ted Trueblood, fished with Ted in Montana often, and is attributed to have invented Fledermouse pattern.  Jack made his own cork grips with his trademark "hammer" design and his own reel seats, which were usually nickel silver, as you see on this one.  Nice marine spar varnish smooth finish, snake guides, burgundy red & black jasper variegated silk windings; nickel silver hardware, reversed half-Wells cork "hammer" grip; ring & cap down-locking configuration.  We lawn-cast a Cortland 333 peach WF6 line very smoothly with power & accuracy.  No original rod tube, but we will supply cloth bag & PVC tube for shipping safety.  Make an offer.  Buyer pays shipping.   DUE TO HEALTH REASONS, QUITTING BUSINESS SALE:  ITEM PRICED ACCORDINGLY!
