CIVIL WAR US FOOT OFFICER NON REGULATION SWORD-FITCH & WALDO-ENGRAVED BLADE

Very good condition and guaranteed original Civil War US Union Army infantry foot officer non-regulation sword by a rare importer mark of. Fitch & Waldo New York.. This classic piece is similar to that shown as example #75 in Harold Peterson’s book, “The American Sword”. Manufactured in  Solingen Germany . 32” blade has nice original bright finish with a little gray. Sharp clear engraving on both sides with “U.S.” on the left side and the E PLURIBUS UNUM eagle on the right side. Marked “IRON PROOF” on the spine. Remaining metal finish is attractive plum brown. Sword features the E PLURIBUS UNUM eagle on the guard. Sharkskin grip has beautiful color and the wire wrap has an old repair. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has nice plum brown patina few dents done by the soldier to keep the sword from rattling. A beautiful German made Civil War officer sword that will make an excellent addition to your collection and a rare importer mark of Fitch & Waldo New York which you rarely see.
