I Put Four Standard AA Batteries In Holder (batteries not included) And Instrument Powered Up Fine. Menu Screens On Both Sides Look Good. Looked Through Eyepiece And Could Not Get It To Focus Clearly-May Need To Be Cleaned Or I May Not Have Been Adjusting The Focus Correctly. This Was The Extent Of My Testing. I Do Not Know When This Instrument Was Last Serviced/Calibrated As I Purchased At Local Auction. Comes With What Is Shown (Instrument, Battery Holder, Case, Plumb Bob, Tubular Compass).
