Antique Boxed Ships Nautical Compass Robert Merrill New York w/ Brass Lamp 1800's

I don't know much about this compass other than it was made before 1865 by Robert Merrill of New York, I can't not say that for the box and lamp . There is a signature on the lid that I can't make out. There is nail and screen missing please see pictures. Compass seems to be in working. Please feel free contact with any questions.
