This is a phenomenal 1880s antique chromolith print depicts four women gossiping in beautiful dress. The seated one is knitting.

 

There is a lot of detail and the print is quite beautiful.

 

The caption identifies it as the Grand Duchy of Hesse and by Rhine (German: Großherzogtum Hessen und bei Rhein). FUrther the towns of Pohl Göns and Hoch-Weisel are named.

 

Between 1806 and 1816, the Grand Duchy of Hesse (German: Großherzogtum Hessen)—as it was also known after 1816—was a member state of the German Confederation from 1806, when the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt was elevated to a Grand Duchy, until 1918, when all the German monarchies were overthrown.

The artist is Albert Kretschmer (1825–1891).

The back of the print is blank. The print is in excellent condition. The paper is rich, thick and smooth.
