These shifters have been completely overhauled and work crisply as if they were new. It is not the miles of use that takes these shifters down, it is the contamination and drying out of the grease over time that does.
A complete disassembly followed by a two step cleaning process has removed all grit, gum, varnish, and old grease that had made these previously inoperable. All cams, palls and levers have been closely inspected and verified to move freely. All springs are sound, no internal wear is evident. A fresh load of high quality lithium based grease has been applied and then the units have been reassembled. Bench testing has proven 100% functionality. These vintage shifters are an extremely robust design. Now that these have been reconditioned, they will work reliably for years.
Cosmetically, these are grade A-. A few small visible flaws are evident. Upon close examination, some paint chips can be found on the front blue covers of both units. I did my best to touch up the areas of exposed aluminum substrate with custom mixed automotive paint. Scratches expose bare metal on the levers. The rubber hoods have virtually no wear, and they are tight to the housings. None of these cosmetic flaws affect the mechanical function in any way.
