Eaglemoss Star Trek Discast Metal and Plastic Parts Model
The diecast metal and plastic parts model of the Enterprise-E measures about 5.75 inches long (from the tip of the oval saucer to the end of the nacelles. The widest section of the saucer measures 2 inches wide. In this model only the saucer is made of metal. Moreover, on the upper side of the saucer, it seems that the section that is encircled by the phaser sensor array (the grey oval line) is a plastic insert. Everything else is made of plastic.
The body and saucer are made of metal while the nacelles and pylons are mode of plastic. Throughout the model there are details such as sections, grid lines, windows/hatches, etc that are embossed onto the surface; this together with different color (silver, grey, red, black) highlights gives the model a very realistic and accurate look. There are translucent colored plastic inserts in the nacelles and saucer that further enhances its details.
A display stand is included. The base is made of metal and the attachable stand is made of translucent plastic which joins the model to the base. The model comes packaged in a two half plastic clam shell and this comes enclosed in a cardboard box. The box measures 6.75 inches by 5 inches by 2. These models are not made to an specific scale. They just seem to be made to fix a certain box size.
A magazine is included with the model. Each magazine is about the particular model (design, history, schematics, specifications, trivia, etc) and measures about 11 x 8 inches and has about 18 pages. The printing is very high quality with full colored pages. The covers have a glossy finish and thicker stock. The inside pages are also full colored and of thicker stock (but not as thick as the cover). The magazine is in mint condition and will be shipped properly protected to remain like that.
This is not a toy. Although made of metal and of solid construction, it is quite fragile and will not survived being played with. The box is labeled as not suitable for children under 14.
The Enterprise-E, a Sovereign class starship, launched in 2372 from the San Francisco Fleet Yards under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Picard and most of the key officers were from Enterprise-D.[2] According to the non-canon novel Ship of the Line, the originally planned name for the vessel was USS Honorious, andMontgomery Scott was part of the team of engineers that designed the Enterprise-E.[3]
In the film Star Trek: First Contact, the Enterprise participates in the Battle of Sector 001, destroying a Borg cube, and subsequently travels back in time to stop the Borg from interfering with Zefram Cochrane's first contact with theVulcans.[2] The Borg hijacked and almost assimilated the ship until Captain Picard and Data reclaimed it. In Star Trek: Insurrection, the crew stops a Son'a attempt to forcibly relocate the Ba'ku people from their homeworld.[2] InStar Trek Nemesis, the Enterprise is heavily damaged while stopping Shinzon from using a weapon of mass destruction to destroy all life on Earth.[4] The ship returns to spacedock to undergo extensive repairs.[4]
