Stunning 1970 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

This is a beautiful example of the Stainless Steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date dating from 1970. The solid steel case is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear. The original Rolex signed steel pearlesecent has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is classically Rolex – please see picture 5 for the colour of the batons (steel with black outline) and hands (also steel with black insert). The applied steel hour batons and steel hands flow into the dial and are perfectly framed by the Thunderbird bezel – the steel Rolex signed screw down is working perfectly. The very high grade Rolex signed perpetual movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. To complete this beautiful watch we’ve added a new, super high quality, Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches black ‘London’ alligator skin strap with steel Hirsch buckle.

Watches of this quality and in this condition are extremely rare and highly sought after – if history is any judge they will only increase in value.

As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order.

The Case

The provenance polished solid stainless steel screw back case is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear and after a soft polish is gleaming. The case measures 33 mm’s wide, excluding the Rolex signed winding crown and 40 mm’s, including the lugs. The inside back is signed ‘Montres Rolex SA Geneva Switzerland Patented’, ‘Stainless Steel’ and the case number of ‘1501’. The age reference is ‘IV. 70’ dating it to 1970.

The Dial

The original Rolex signed steel pearlesecent has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is classically Rolex – please see picture 5 for the colour of the batons (steel with black outline) and hands (also steel with black insert). The applied steel hour batons and steel hands flow into the dial and are perfectly framed by the Thunderbird bezel. The dial is signed ‘Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date’, ‘Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified’ and ‘T Swiss T’.

The Movement

The original Rolex signed very high-grade automatic movement is in excellent condition. The movement has just been fully serviced by my professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order. It is signed Rolex Perpetual Patented’, ‘Montres Rolex SA Geneva Swiss’, ‘Twenty Six 26 Jewels’, ‘Adjusted 5 Positions and Temperature’ and the calibre is ‘1570’. The movement number is ‘D791570’.

The Strap

To complete this beautiful watch we’ve added a new, super high quality, Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches black ‘London’ alligator skin strap with steel Hirsch buckle. This strap retails at £195.00

Couriering and Pre-Delivery Inspection

We use the Royal Mail’s Guaranteed next day service for UK sales and DHL for all overseas shipping. All our watches are fully serviced, but prior to couriering each one will undergo a 3 day pre-delivery check to ensure the watch is in perfect condition.
