Gibson Les Paul Standard Custom Shop 1959 / 59 Reissue R9, made in 2006
I am selling an original 2006 Gibson Les Paul Custom 1959 Reissue in very good condition. Made at the Custom Shop in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Only "played” occasionally on my sofa at home, never taken out my flat. It was part of a small collection but this guitar is "too good" for me.
This guitar was purchased at Berlin based Luther Lutz Heidlindemann a.k.a. "Guitardoc" (check on the internet).
Back then when the "Guitardoc" was still a Gibson retailer, he had access to the central Gibson warehouse in Marburg where all the shipments from Gibson USA would arrive before they where dispatched to guitar stores in Germany.
Due to his good relations, he had the privilege to personally select & test the guitars he wanted to sell in his shop before ordering them at Gibson Germany. And this guitar is one of them. The result is just accordingly, this is one amazing sounding guitar.
Custom Shop stuff in general is already very, very good. But if someone who builds and repairs guitars and personally owns vintage gear is handpicking guitars for retailing, then the selection of guitars offered becomes really a "best of".
You can feel free to personally call him and ask him about it, simply because this very guitar is right now at his shop for sale again. You find it on his website. Of course a purchase on ebay would be "winning" over a potential simultaneous sale at his shop.
There is a spot with lighter wooden colour in the 6th fret between the g- and b-string. Don't ask me what it is. Fretboard oil did not make it go away and it is not a chip or dent in the fretboard, see close-up.
For the sake of being complete, here are the appointments. All original except for the ABR-1 bridge that was exchanged for an ABM bridge (Berlin based company), to allow for better string separation, resonance and "punch".
Appointments:
Burstbuckers 1+2, Bumble Bees, ABM Bridge, long neck tenon etc. etc. ... you know what a 1959 Reissue is like.
Mahogany body with carved maple top, mahogany neck, and a very nice dark brown rosewood fingerboard.
Comes with original Custom Shop case.
Remaining Case Candy and COA are also included, see pictures. The pickguard was removed
because I love the great and authentic flame top flame top, it is of course
included.
The top is for my taste just incredible, not too pronounced / "in the face" with a nice 3D flame structure and a subtle overlaying mineral grain structure that is as authentic and original as a lot of these original '59 Les Pauls. Depending on the angle of the light it changes nicely and reveals its beauty anew all the time.
It weighs in at 3,99 kg = 8,80 lbs ... Perfect and "historically correct
"Paula" weight.
For the R9 reissues Gibson paid well attention to get resonant and leight weight mahogany. This guitar has the perfect weight which is not too light and not too heavy.
The reward is just a great tone: resonant, full, woody, piano like, yet very detailed and transparent.
It has a very even push through the spectrum, low
to high, and the most striking quality is that it has a great "honk"
combined with a fast attack. This creates a very lively and “snappy” tone, the
notes literally “jump” out of this guitar. A quality that you of course feel
immediately when playing it only acoustically. Harmonics and overtones come easily with this axe. The upper mids
have plenty of bite and crispness without being overy hard/harsh. This guitar
is perfect for blues and hard/classsic rock but will also fit greatly in any
kind of popular music.
The neck has a great feeling and is close to an original 59 profile.
So, this guitar here is in excellent/mint condition and is fairly below a retailer's new price.
This guitar is a collectible item as much as a player, so by any means a keeper if you intend to do either or both of these things !!

General shipping note
The choice between DHL, UPS, FedEx etc. will be
which service provider is willing to cover the full insurance amount. The
insurance depends on the postal regulations of each country, regardless if its
Europe or somewhere else in the world. Even in Europe there are huge
differences. So, if DHL has the lower shipping fees but does not insure high
enough (because the receiving country’s post does not do it) then we will
have to chose UPS and it might cost a bit more. The winner of the auction has
to fully cover these costs.
Concerning payment
I accept a direct transfer from your to my bank
account (bank wire). Please email me for questions concerning payment. The
money has to arrive on my bank account at the latest 4 business days after the
end of the auction. Online/telephone banking is common today, so this should
not be a problem. International transactions are also very fast these days, so
I may accept 6 days for payments from outside Germany if direct bank-to-bank
transfer is chosen.
If money is sent to my account from outside
Germany, transaction fees may occur at the bank the money is sent from and also
at my bank which is receiving the money. E.g. if money is sent from the USA for
sure there will be transaction fees. If sent from within the European Union, it
depends on the individual bank if fees are charged. Anyway, all fees that may
occur (at your bank as well as my bank) have to be paid upfront by the person
who is sending the money. If you choose to buy a guitar in a foreign country
then please accept that extra transaction costs are fully at your charge.
