THE EMPIRE STATE COLLECTION ALBANY PAINTINGS & SCULPTURES OF THE NEW YORK SCHOOL 1987.  When you visit Albany, New York and particularly the Empire State Plaza downtown, you can’t help but be impressed by the ultra-modern buildings built during the Governorship of Nelson A. Rockefeller.  Housed in the Plaza and in the buildings that make it, can be found the works that are the subject of this book: “The Empire State Collection: Art for the Public.”  This collection of art, 92 of them in all, contain “outstanding examples of the work of most of the important American artists of the 1960s who lived and worked in New York State.”  This book, on offer here, is the catalogue of that collection, compiled and elaborated under the Governorship of Rockefeller’s successor, Governor Mario Cuomo.  This large softcover book (9 x 12 inches, 214 pages, including a fair number of fold-out wide display pages) was published by the Empire State Plaza Art Commission of Albany, in association with Harry N. Abrams, Inc. of New York, dated 1987.  I believe that this is the First Edition.  The 12 photos permitted with an eBay listing will not do justice to this book or the collection it catalogues.

Condition:  This book is in very good condition.  There is some edge wear all way round but nothing too severe; the worse is some bumping to the corners (please see the photos).  The lower back corner was bent and is now wrinkled as a result.  Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright, from cover to cover.  The binding is tight and sound.  This book is not ex-library or a remainder.

Shipping:  This book will be very carefully packed, with bubble wrap and solid cardboard protection and promptly mailed upon payment.  Please note that I do not charge for packing and handling; all you pay is the postage.  Media mail postage for this large-sized soft cover book will be only $4.00.  Within the US for domestic mailings, combined shipping for multiple purchases is gladly offered.  You will pay full price for the shipping of the first book and half price for any others purchased that same week.  For example, two books with shipping at $4 each will ship for $6 combined.

Please see my many other vintage and collectible books on offer, quite a mixed bag but hopefully appealing to some of you.

Please don’t hesitate to send in any questions; I will monitor closely and respond promptly.  Thanks and enjoy.
