Please do not believe the claims that there is only copal in Indonesia.

 There is amber in Indonesia.

There have been scientific papers published verifying this.

One example title is "Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Characterization of Indonesian Amber" published in the Journal Life: The Excitement of Biology 1(3) with co-authors Lambert, Levy, Santiago-Blay, and Wu pgs. 136-155; published on-line September 25, 2013.

Up for purchase is a piece of super rare, untreated amber from the region of West Papua, Indonesia with a beautiful, deep blue color with natural sunlight shining on it.

This is hard material and takes a high polish.

Indonesia shares the island with Papua New Guinea who owns the eastern half.

There is very little of this material available for sale as the source is quite isolated.

The the piece has been polished on one side to show the color best. The color varies depending upon how sunlight is striking it also.

Please note that this material is much more rare than Dominican blue amber.

All pictures were taken under natural sunlight, no color enhancements.

Indonesian amber is a beautiful, all-natural amber from fossil trees that exhibits a rich range of colors.

Indonesian amber is a very recent find. This amber possesses a beautiful, deep blue color that sometimes can appear as violet (purple). I also offer blue and green amber from other areas of Indonesia.

The color rivals that of the finest Dominican and Chiapas (Mexican) blue amber. The coloration can be so intense that it can be seen even in dim sunlight.

The color appears best when light is shining on rather than through the piece and is due to the natural, untreated, chemical fluorescent properties of the amber.

It was mined from the earth in the Indonesian province of West Papua.  No treatment of any kind was done to this to enhance the color.

I may also have pieces of Jambi Blue amber, Sulawesi Blue amber, and West Kalimantan Blue amber for sale which exhibits a unique blue sometimes violet color also.

A piece such as this would make a great addition to any fossil or gemstone collection.

The piece weighs 12.4 grams (62 carats) and has a length of 35 mm, width of 23 mm, and 17 mm height.

Please see my Dominican amber that has a variety of insect, botanical, and other types of inclusions along with my large pieces of fossiliferous Colombian copal at low starting bids.
