LIEBIG- 5 TRADE CARDS FROM SERIES OF 6 TITLED "CALENDAR FOR 1891" ISSUED IN 1891

Offered are 5 early advertising trade cards issued in 1891 by the Liebig Company and published in Paris, France. These cards are identified by the Sanguinetti Catalog as from the very rare series S292 and are in the French language. Each card depicts two months, along with a colorful scene appropriate to the time of the year. The set lacks the September/October card.

Liebig trade cards are known as some the finest "Chromos" ever produced, many series with 12 color lithography and the sets covering 100's of different subjects. The first series were issued in 1872 and were published for over 100 years, the last of 1800+ sets came out in 1973. Cards promoting the company's "Extract of Beef" were issued in many countries around the world and in as many as 15 different languages. Some of the earliest, rarest and most sought after series were issued in English, the last English series, S321 Proverbs II, was published in 1891.
