This is a two owner V12 Mercedes 600 SL in excellent order, registered in August 1996 and having averaged about 10,000 miles a year, it comes with a stamped service book, V5 and current MOT which runs until February 2012. The car had some recent work for its last MOT which I believe was brake and suspension work, but it is overdue a service on mileage, the last service was 20,000 miles ago. This gap aside the rest of the servicing looks to be continuous with a mix of Mercedes Main Agent and Specialist Servicing.  I have just done a 250 mile roundtrip in it and I have to say it runs extremely well and lets say .....effortlessly!!  It is a beautiful and torquey engine that will keep up with just about anything on the road, if you want it too, but with the roof down and the wind in your hair, it isn't a car you have to rush. And if you are thinking........"but the fuel consumption": it gave me 20.7mpg which I think is pretty good for a 6 litre engine and a car of 2 tons just a little less than my daily Subaru Impreza Turbo. (I am not that light footed either.)

It comes in the Mercedes metallic Blue/black paint finish and two tone leather interior, I would call the trim colours, tan and mushroom and whilst the leather would benefit from cleaning and "feeding", it is not cracked or torn. There is one very small area between the rear seats where there is a small tear in the vinyl upholstery between the seat swabs and a small tear in the vinyl finish on the hood cover which can be seen only when the hood is folded away. The power hood works perfectly, you sit in the (stationary) car and pull back on one button and it does everything, you don't have to do anything else; same for closing. It comes with its matching blue/black hardtop which is perfect, rarely used and comes with a stand. It makes it a very snug and safe winter car if you chose to use it throughout the year.
In true Mercedes fashion, everything seems to work perfectly with the possible exception of the windscreen washers, I will investigate further.

Regarding the bodywork and paintwork, generally in very good order, with the exception of the front spoiler which has a small vertical crack in it and needs a repair, I would estimate about £200 maximum, and there is a very small parking "graze" on the offside rear bumper and a small paintwork scratch above the rear nearside wheel arch. The wheels are very good for their age with light scuffing only; I believe these were an option, they are 18inch composite Mercedes alloys (split rims) taking 245 and 265 tyres respectively/ front : back. Tyres are good.

All in all, a £120,000 car when new, going for about a 20th of the price! Very Grand very cheap motoring.

Please come and inspect the car if you are interested, it is in Surrey just outside Guildford and /or e-mail with questions.
