SOLD OUT at the Royal Canadian Mint!
The
elusive loon is as pervasive a symbol of Canada as you'll find anywhere
in the Great White North. The loon is reclusive, solitary, and prefers
to nest in secluded lakes. This large bird, with a wingspan up to 5
feet, is adapted to hunting underwater. The loon is able to fish by
diving to depths of up to 230 feet! Its long pointed beak enables it to
easily snare the fish.
When the mint issued the $1 circulation coins
with the loon on them, they quickly became universally known as
"loonies".
Now here's a
unique, one-time-only loonie design - available only in this
collection! This handsome set, complete with mint block
of
stamps
and proof coin, represents an excellent opportunity to show your
appreciation for this unique bird!
