Selling my 1980 Honda CX500. This bike started life as a CX500C. Original odometer shows 16310 miles. The new one about 340 miles, though I'm still adding to it. The bike was customized when I bought it about two years ago. It had a pretty cool bobber look. I've tried to morph it into more of a cafe racer. Since I've owned it I have:

Changed out the stator, high and low speed coils. This is an engine out job and kind of a pain.

Upgraded to Mikumi carbs using Murray's Carbs kit.

Changed out the pipe to a SupperTrapp. Sounds awsome!

Changed out the rear wheel to the larger diameter CX500 Deluxe model wheel with Bridgestone Spitfire 11R.  (Has Bridgestone Spitfire 11F up front.)

Upgraded to 13.5 in (roughly) Hagon progressive rear shocks. Ran on 11.5" when I bought it.

New battery.

This bike is running well. It loves throttle and sounds great. Handles and brakes well. Actually, it probably handles better than new. Tons of fun in the canyons. Only one booby trap. The previous owner cut down the tube on the run/reserve fuel valve. After switching over to reserve the bike will go about a mile.

If you're looking for something unique but with decent parts supply and tech support (CX500 forum is great!) this is the bike for you.  Bike is sold as is, where is.  No warranty!  All spare parts pictured will go with the bike. Shipping is your responsibility though I'll be glad to help out on my end. Thanks for checking out this bitchin ride. Good luck!!

UPDATE:  I PUT ABOUT 30 MILES ON THE CX THIS AFTERNOON.  I NOTICED THE RADIATOR FAN WAS NOT COMING ON.  FOUND THE POWER WIRE TO THE FAN HAD COME UNPLUGGED FROM THE FUSE BOX.  PLUGGED IT BACK IN AND WAS GOOD TO GO.  THE ONLY DANGER WAS DUDES IN TRUCKS STARING AT THE BIKE AND NEARLY DRIVING OFF THE ROAD.  THEY STARE LIKE IT'S A NAKED WOMAN.
