The following information is intended as a guide only. While it is the method we use ourselves we can not guarantee it as seeds are live products and although we do everything in our power to ensure they reach you in perfect condition we CAN NOT guarantee germination because sprouting depends on many factors such as sunlight, weather, water, soil, grower experience, time and others. If you have problem about germination please contact us and we will try to do everything we can to help you.

Voacanga is one of the more well-known African entheogens, but its prevalence as a live plant outside of Africa is rather limited because Voacanga seeds can be quite tough to germinate once they go dormant. Germination of dormant Voacanga seeds can take as long as nine months. Such a long germination period can require patience and persistence on the part of the grower, and as with any seed that has a long germination time, mold becomes an adversary.

1) Clean your seeds by removing any dried bits of seed pod and dust as Voacanga Africana have quite a long germination period and any bits still attached to the seeds may encourage mold.
2) Soak your seeds in distilled vinegar or lemon juice for 10 - 15 minutes then drain them and rinse them with tap water. as an extra precaution against mold you can soak the seeds next in 3% Hydrogen Peroxide or diluted bleach for 20 minutes then drain but do not rinse.
3) Sow the seeds in a seed tray to a depth of about 6cm and cover over.
4) Seeds need to be kept warm so a heat mat or a heated propagator will help greatly.
5) Seeds can take a long time to germinate, between 3 and 9 months so will need to be protected against mold.
6) when the seedlings are big enough to transplant they can be put into individual pots
