Here we have a SILVER Sony PS2 console for sale.

It is the original, 'fat' version (as opposed to the Slimline version).

This console has been professionally refurbished to eliminate any disc reading problems.

As a result, it plays all discs perfectly (as long as they are official discs).

This includes:

1) Silver PS2 DVD games
2) Blue PS2 CD games
3) Black PS1 CD games
4) Audio CD discs
5) DVD film discs

AND an often-overlooked (when testing) type of disc:

6) Dual layer DVD PS2 games & films

The console plays all of the above disc types with no problems at all.

Here is a breakdown of the work that has gone in to this console:

1) The console has been throroughly cleaned and all dirt/dust removed - both inside and out!

2) The laser has been professionally cleaned
(not just a quick rub with a cotton bud on the focus lens, but a deep clean including the light refractor and main lens eye).

3) The laser has been calibrated with professional equipment to ensure the correct amount of resistance is applied
(not enough and your discs will suffer from laser burn, too much and the laser will struggle to read certain games or types of disc).

4) The laser guide rails have been cleaned and greased again to ensure ease of movement for the laser.

5) The laser has been realigned to ensure it is in the optimal position to read discs.

6) The disc tray has been cleaned and refurbished to ensure that it opens and closes smoothly.

I'm so confident in these consoles, a FREE THREE MONTH warranty is included!

Yes, this warranty entitles you to a free replacement or repair on return of the old console!

Why else should you consider purchasing a PS2 console from me?

I'm glad you asked! Here are some pictures of an example black console (you will receive a silver console!) both before and after the refurbishment:

Also, if you buy a PS2 console from somewhere else...

...you may receive a console that was a little dirty or dusty. It might be a little unpleasant but perhaps not enough to justify returning the console.

...you might notice, after a few weeks of playing, that the console doesn't play some discs as well as others, for example. It could take much longer to load some games than others.
A little annoying, especially when you only want a quick gaming session, but still maybe not enough to warrant sending the console back.

It's entirely possible that the console may make strange noises, for example scuffing or grinding sounds. A bit worrying, but as long as it still plays the discs it should be okay...

This is an all too common scenario - you may be dismayed to find that the grooves on the controllers are full of filth and dirt.
This is much more often than not a mixture of dead skin cells, sweat and even food!
Yes, it's quite disgusting really! I selected 4 preowned PS2 controllers at random to demonstrate this:

^Rather unpleasant^

So in the end, there is a chance you could end up with a dirty console and controller which just about plays discs but could be 'on its way out'.
If the console finally does stop working, what would happen then?
Perhaps purchase another one and try to recoup some of the loss by selling the faulty console?
Sounds like a pain...

There are also a lot more unpleasantries you may come across that I haven't mentioned (spider webs are common in the bottom of the console, for example!).

However, I'm not trying to be a scaremonger (I would write for a tabloid newspaper otherwise!) but rather demonstrate how much work has gone in to these consoles,
in order to allow you to decide if you would like one or not.

There are a lot of decent sellers out there who carefully test consoles and even (bless them!) clean the console externally.
Often, a toothbrush is used to clean out the vents.
This is a nice idea, but unfortunately it's pushing a lot of the dust inside the console and ultimately decreasing the amount of time until problems start to appear.
Even using a vacuum cleaner isn't very effective as the air suction doesn't reach the laser area of the console.

A PS2 console that has been refurbished to this extent is difficult to find - I'm pleased and proud to be offering these consoles and will take pride in packing the item to avoid damage in transit
(no matter how rough the journey is!).

Each console comes with a power cable, AV TV cable and an official (cleaned!) controller - everything you need to get going (except a TV and a game!).

Lastly, please note - whilst the consoles have been cleaned and polished and are in generally excellent, clean condition, some scuff marks may remain. Nothing too serious, but worth mentioning!

If you have any questions about this item, please don't hesitate to ask!

Thank you very much for looking :-)
