Heavy large footed Amston Fine Silver Plated Serving Platter, marked on the bottom “Amston Fine Silver Plate 1798”.

The front is engraved “C.D.G.A. 1954 MIXED SCOTCH” so this definitely dates this piece prior to 1954.

I think C.D.G.A. might stand for Chicago District Golf Associate and they were around and holding tournaments in 1954 but I’m not sure what the “Mixed Scotch” could mean.

Perhaps this was a runner up gift?  The platter is in a shell design with ornate edging and a fruit basket type design at the top.  Each of the three feet is also in the shape of a shell.  There are some obvious signs of age in the bowl and the Amston stamp is doubled, a mistake at the manufacturer.

Great collector piece!

Measures 12” across left to right and and 11 ½” front to back, 2 ½” tall.
