For your consideration, an original oil on canvas fiord landscape coastal scene by the Danish artist Harald Peter William Schumacher (1836 - 1912). The painting displays a bright color palette, rich textures, and animated movement seen in the items on the clothesline and in the ship’s sails. The coastal area that is portrayed in this late 19^th center work is a subject Schumacher explored throughout his career. The painting is in good vintage condition, save for pigment flaking and loss to an area of the painting (see photos); the work also could use a cleaning. The work is signed on the bottom right and measures 16 ½” x 12 ½” (the vintage carved wood frame measures 50cm x 40cm). A wonderful 19^th century work by a very collectable European School artist.
