Tools Needed: Power drill with 1¼  inch hole saw, Pipe Wrench, and Thread Tape
Please purchase 2 feet 1 inch ID Hose from home center

2.   Center the hole saw drill bit 2-3 inch above the bottom of the barrel.  Drill 1¼ inch hole on rain barrel(use eye protection when operating power tool)

3.   If your barrel has an open top, you can install the fitting with nut inside or outside.
If your barrel has a small opening like a bung hole on top: Drop the bulkhead fitting male piece with gasket into the barrel. Roll the barrel, pick up the fitting from outside. Or you can hook the fitting with a wire, then run the wire down to the drilled hole.

4.   Install the bulkhead fitting nut, turn COUNTER-Clockwise to tighten with a pipe wrench. Do not over-tighten. Over-tightening may cause the gasket slipping out.

5.   Wrap the elbow thread with teflon tape(3-5 rounds) and install the elbow

Measure the required hose length(we found we need 22 inchs). And cut the hose to length. Dip in hot water if you find it’s difficult the install the hose on the barbed fitting. If the hose is too loose(very unlikely), please purchase and install additional hose clamps.
