RICOH XR-P
TWO LENS
FIVE FILTER
23 PIECE SYSTEM
This
listing is for a VERY FINE Ricoh XR-P Camera and several accessories
It
is ready for taking great pictures
This
Camera Is in Excellent shooting condition
I
ask you to look at the pictures closely for I have included combined images and
additional text you may find important
What I love about the XR-P is that it is
ruggedly built,
Its excellent optics, and its
advanced electronics...
the easiest exposure settings I have seen on a sophisticated film camera.
The quality of the glass in both of the
lenses offered in this listing can only be described as pristine
The XR-P received such rave reviews in all the photo magazines I read that I had to have one...31 years ago.
I HAVE NOT BEEN DISAPPOINTED!!!
Besides being ahead
of its time, the optics review compared it to the best available from either
Germany or Japan…not much less edge-to-edge sharpness than lenses/cameras
costing much, much more…
Its meter functions
well in all exposure modes, and I like that it has an additional left side shutter
button.
This camera is capable of
truly memorable shots including macro and double exposure.
My Price may be a bit
more for good reason
Several times I have
been misled by sellers just selling, not testing.
Not so with me. Every Camera I offer has been
thoroughly tested to make sure you get what is described in this listing.
I put extra time and
money into every camera I sell.
This is a detailed
report about its condition.
This XR-P has survived the years. Everything,
about the body and its electronics are in excellent to very good working order
and my 10/26/2014 test roll turned out excellent too. You will find that both
of these lenses perform very well. They will produce high quality images.
I was using expired
film with this unit and still got fine results, some of which are shown above.
You will receive a
ready to shoot vintage
XR-P camera body (probably an '85 model).
It includes a nice strap and two fine lenses—
A pristine perfect
Rikenon (Ricoh) 35mm-70mm 1:3.5-4.5 Zoom w/macro
lens, and a pristine nice 70-210 1:4.5-5.6 Rikenon Zoom … this is the smaller (½ size) version
of the original 70-210 Rikenon lens. This lens will not
go into macro for me. However, the macro on the 35-70mm lens works well
and will give you macro capability.
Regardless, I got
this 70-210 from the original owner. Her camera was stolen many years ago. It
had another lens on it. This lens has been properly stored away for those many
years.
Both lenses are
pristine and function nice and smooth with no issues except as noted...
Neither
lens has any scratches, fungus, haze, oil, inclusions or other negative issues
except the macro position on the 70-210 lens
This package includes
a USA MADE Tiffen 55mm HAZE1UV filter,
A
55mm Japan made Tiffen CPL filter . (These are for the
35-70MM LENS.)
Additionally, for the 70-210mm
zoom lens you get
A 52mm New ITB never
used VIVITAR series 1 Three Filter Set.
These three filters have never been out of the original cellophane packaging!
Sold separately, the
suggested retail on the series 1 CPL was $113.00
at ADORAMA not long ago.
This
is VIVITAR’S best. The set includes
The
CPL Series 1 Filter,
The Series 1 UV Filter,
AND
the Neutral Density 8 Filter…
Plus a nice wallet to keep
them safe.
Also included is a FULLY DEDICATED KALIMAR FLASH WITH INSTRUCTION MANUAL
It is in perfect operating order and I see few signs of use.
Two Ricoh Front lens caps (52mm
& 55mm)
A body cap
A
generic rear lens
cap and
One Ricoh rear lens cap.
Also Included are two brand
new lithium batteries and
A very nice new and unused Camera
bag W/strap. This package looks
and functions great.
Also include is a
very nice owner’s manual for both the camera and the flash and a pristine XR-P
Pocket guide.
So, what’s bad about this 30
year old champion?
Not much… It is a
vintage camera and time wants to take a toll. However, Ricoh built a fantastic
and rugged camera in the XR-P. I find only minor issues that
will not affect camera function.
the
“bad” in this listing is not very...
There are two
noticeable marks on the focus screen. These are not going to affect
performance. I do show them in the pictures; the viewfinder is grade “B” clean.
There is a small LCD
panel that purposefully only operates when on total auto setting…”A” on the shutter-speed dial
and “P” on the Aperture Ring.
In
this full auto setting the small LCD window turns on and indicates what f stop the camera
is using. In this unit that little screen has a moderate amount of “bleed.” You
will still be able to see the f stop setting.
It is not a big deal
and does not affect photo quality or camera performance in any way.
Finally, I have already
mentioned the Macro not working on the 70-210mm lens. I am not saying it will
not ever work. I simply was not going to force anything. It is my experience that this
will likely loosen up and you’ll suddenly be able to put it in macro mode, but
I cannot guarantee this.
In all modes the
camera diode panel shows both shutter choice and the recommended shutter
speed indicator works perfectly; setting the aperture
manually is smooth and hassle free.
The body is
cosmetically excellent, having no dings or noticeable scratches or broken or
missing parts! The leather is quite good showing only a minimal amount of use.
The light seals are
good.
I prefer my XR-Ps to
anything Nikon, Canon—whatever, that I have ever used. It is rugged and can make
great photographs—just put it to use.
Look at the Photos in
this listing and judge for yourself (I didn’t go out of my way to
shot fabulous scenic pictures…just quality images.)
I
purchased and have used XR-P cameras and Rikenon lenses since 1984, though some
say 1985 is its year of introduction, this is not the case. I have 1984 dated
slides I made with my own XR-P camera.
I
used it this last 4th
of July. It performed great.
The XR-P actually has
32 different
possible operating configurations including full manual. It must have
batteries in all shooting modes.
So there you have the
scoop on this remarkable (in some ways historic) camera that is highly
undervalued in the resale market.
It will arrive quite clean
and packaged well.
I never sell junk that hardly
ever works as intended/described.
You may pay a few dollars more
for what I sell, but I guarantee it to be as I have reviewed it above...
You can always buy
something cheaper and take your chances with words like: "seems like,"
"seems too," "looks great," "no battery-not
tested" etc.
I am selling it “as
is” in excellent working order as herein described. I have a lot invested in
this package. The new owner will be very pleased!!
I
have been shooting
35mm SLR cameras for 44 years and now as a buyer and seller of 35MM cameras I
will never sell anything I have not put a roll of film through and judged its
merits fairly.
I
am offering a 14 day
money back guarantee.
I try to list as
accurately as can be. If there is a concern, get in touch. I will always be
fair.
PLEASE, reasonable offers only.
Thanks
for your consideration!
