Overview

This is a stunning example of the iconic Rolex Oyster Perpetual dating from 1960. The original and extremely beautiful silver pearlescent Rolex signed dial is untouched - we usually re-finish dials as this age often has heavy patina - please note, the dial is silver/steel pearlescent and see picture 6 for better idea of the actual colour. This dial is in excellent condition with only the most minor signs of patina. The applied gilt (gold colour) hour batons and gilt dauphine hands provide a soft contrast to the dial and blend perfectly with the provenance polished solid yellow gold case (correctly finished matt shoulders and polished sides). The very high grade Rolex signed Chronometer standard automatic movement is again in excellent condition and has just been serviced by my watchmaker - very rarely it has the 'Butterfly' rotor. To complete this iconic watch I've added a new, high quality, Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches dark brown crocodile skin strap with gold plated after-market Rolex buckle (we can of change the strap colour/material if required)

Watches of this quality and in this condition are extremely rare and highly sought after - if history is any judge they will only increase in value.

As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within 14 days in the same condition.

The Case

The provenance polished (gloss sides and matt shoulders) solid 14ct yellow gold screw down case is in excellent condition, with only the most minor signs of wear. The case measures 33 mm's wide, excluding the original Rolex signed winding/setting crown and 40 mm's, including the lugs. The inside back is signed 'Montres Rolex SA Geneva Switzerland Patented' and the case number of '6565'. The serial number is 446*** dating it to 1960. It also has the appropriate hallmarks for solid 14ct gold.

The Dial

The original and stunning silver pearlescent Rolex signed dial is just beautiful. The original and perfect gilt dauphine hands and applied gilt hour batons flow beautifully into the dial and gleaming case. It is signed ‘Rolex Oyster Perpetual’, 'Officially Certified Chronometer' and ‘Swiss’ The lens has been replaced and shows no signs of wear or scratching.

The Movement

The original Rolex signed high-grade Chronometer standard automatic movement is in excellent condition. The movement has just been fully serviced by my professional watchmaker - the Chronometer status movements were the highest grade Rolex made. It is signed 'Rolex Perpetual Patented', 'Montres Rolex SA Geneva Swiss', 'Adjusted 5 Positions and Temperature', '25 Twenty Five Jewels' and the calibre is '1030'. The movement number is N819715

The Strap

This watch sits on a new, high quality, Hirsch & Sonning Vintage Watches dark brown crocodile skin strap with a gold plated after-market Rolex buckle.
