Beautiful 1965 to 1968 Rolex Oyster Perpetual with Original Guarantee Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

This is a stunning example of the iconic Rolex Oyster Perpetual dating from 1965 and sold in 1968. The original and extremely beautiful Rolex signed silver pearlescent dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is classically Rolex. The applied steel hour batons and steel hands flow beautifully into the dial and gleaming case (matt shoulders and polished sides). The case is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear and the Rolex signed screw down winding crown is working perfectly. The very high grade Rolex signed automatic 1570 movement is in excellent condition and has just been serviced by my watchmaker. To complete this iconic watch I’ve added a new, high quality, Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches black crocodile skin strap with steel Hirsch buckle. Very rarely, we also have the original Rolex guarantee confirming the serial number and showing a sales date of 24/12/68

Watches of this quality and in this condition are extremely rare and highly sought after – if history is any judge they will only increase in value.

As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within 14 days in the same condition.

The Case

The provenance polished (gloss sides and matt shoulders) solid stainless steel screw down case is in excellent condition, with only the most minor signs of wear. The case measures 33 mm’s wide, excluding the Rolex signed screw down winding crown and 40 mm’s, including the lugs. The inside back is signed ‘Montres Rolex SA Geneva Switzerland Patented’, ‘Stainless Steel’ and the case number of ‘1002’. It has the reference of IV.65 dating it to 1965.

The Dial

The original and stunning Rolex signed silver pearlescent dial is just beautiful. The original and perfect steel Rolex hands and applied steel hour batons flow beautifully into the dial and gleaming case. It is signed ‘Rolex Oyster Perpetual’, ‘Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified’ and ‘T Swiss T’ The lens has been replaced and shows no signs of wear or scratching.

The Movement

The original Rolex signed and very high-grade Chronometer standard automatic movement is in excellent condition. The movement has just been fully serviced by my professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order. It is signed ‘Montres Rolex SA Geneva Swiss’, ‘Twenty Six 26 Jewels’, ‘1570 (calibre), ‘Adjusted 5 Positions and Temperature’ and the movement number is ‘31014’

The Strap

This watch sits on a new, high quality, Hirsch & Sonning Vintage Watches black crocodile skin strap with steel Hirsch buckle.

The Conclusion

This is a rare and highly collectible vintage watch from one of horology’s most famous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy.
