This is Sumatra Amber from the
coal measures in Indonesia,
a new exciting discovery/find of fossil amber.
This is a form of fossil amber called 'glessite'
it is not copal (a form of young amber).

Glessite is harder than succinite -  a form common to the Baltic amber.

This piece is in the rough natural state and shows a
red brown amber colour when held up to the light.

It is dated from the Tertiary Period, 15 - 25 million years old.
