Roy Seaman is Gemeinhardt's brand of high-end professional piccolos.  Made in Elkhart, Indiana by master piccolo makers in Gemeinhardt's workshop.

Gemeinhardt: Where Artistry and Technology Blend.        logo

Kurt Gemeinhardt dedicated himself to creating remarkably responsive instruments with a beautiful tone that would distinguish them from all others. Today, Gemeinhardt continues his legacy by incorporating the craftsmanship of the past with today's sophisticated technology to create flutes that are as artful as they are advanced. An instrument of pride for flutists of all talents and abilities.

As the largest exclusive manufacturer of flutes and piccolos, Gemeinhardt instruments are known and trusted for their acoustic and mechanical excellence, and are the preference of more flutists the world over. A preference you'll understand once you play any one of their remarkable instruments.

Professional Features of the "Storm" piccolo

This innovative new design of piccolo by Gemeinhardt, in their Roy Seaman line of piccolos, has changed the world of piccolos as we know it.  With a space-age composite material body and headjoint, designed to match the acoustic properties of the finest grenadilla wood, this piccolo sounds exactly like a professional wood piccolo.  BUT without the drawbacks of woodWood piccolos require special care and maintenance, and can only be played indoors.  They need  to be protected from any extreme temperatures, oiled regularly, and treated with extreme care.  You can not play a wood
piccolo outside, because it will crack and be ruined.  You can't play a wood piccolo in the winter, when the air is dry, it will crack.  With this "Storm" piccolo, you can play outside, in the rain, in dry weather, humid, hot, cold, anywhere!
And you can bring it inside and sound like a professional wood piccolo on the stage too, with a tone and intonation suitable for a band or orchestra of the highest professional caliber.

The integrated Split E mechanism design makes your high E natural (you know, that note that's like the hardest to play) perfectly in tune and easy to play.

The wave headjoint is a headjoint design that makes the piccolo easier to play, with a beautiful tone and instant response.

Beauty and Elegance

The silver plated key mechanism is strong and durable, and has great ergonomics, including offset G keys.

Offset G keys are more ergonomic and comfortable to hold, and are gaining popularity among students and professionals. This is rare on piccolos.

The elegant French leather case and designer case cover carries your flute in style and safety.

Good for the planet: The composite material in this piccolo is a "green" alternative to Grenadilla wood, which is becoming an endangered species due to over-deforestation and unsustainable harvesting in Africa.  The Grenadilla tree takes 60 years to mature before harvesting and so supply is dwindling.  With piccolos, clarinets, oboes, and other wood instruments vying for the short supply of wood, alternatives need to be found before this species of tree goes extinct.  The composite material in the "Storm" piccolo is the perfect alternative to grenadilla wood because it sounds the same, but doesn't cut down any trees!

And since the composite material can be made for cheaper than imported rare wood from Africa, it makes the piccolo more affordable.

Rich Lupo Flutes and Piccolos is a flute specialty store, not a giant warehouse with forklifts and conveyor belts.  We only accept the best
flutes from the manufacturer.  We hand select our inventory with care and extensively test and set-up each flute before shipping it to our customers.
Every flute, even brand new, needs professional testing and set-up.  The final stage of quality control is the dealer.  The manufacturer knows this, and expects it out of their dealers.  You don't want a flute straight from the factory, you want a flute that has been carefully checked over and tweaked for maximum performance by a professional flutist.
We're not some giant warehouse that imports flutes on trucks and ships them out on conveyor belts.  We are a flute shop.  We test and customize each and every flute that goes out our doors, to make sure it is perfect for our customer.  We tweak and refine each flute, making all necessary adjustments, evening the spring tension, oiling, fitting the joints better, tuning, etc.  All to make the factory made flute play and feel like a fine handmade flute.  A few hours of attention makes all the difference!  Now that's something you can't do in a warehouse.

So quiz your dealer.  Find out if they actually know anything about flutes!  Ask them which Bb fingering is their favorite.  Which orchestras have they soloed with?  Where did they study?
Would you buy a car from a salesman who didn't even have a driver's license?  Would you even believe a word they said?
