Pentax K-01 Mirrorless APS-C Full Spectrum Converted Camera!
Up for bid is an Pentax K-01 16.3MP mirrorless APS-C camera. The internal IR hot filter has been removed and replaced with an unclated Spectosil 2000 Fused Silica which will pass UV from 170nm all the way to IR frequencies over 2000nm. This material is superior in all aspects to Schott WG280 or Quartz plate glass which passes UV from 280nm. I am the only service offering this superior product for full spectrum conversions. The result is what you see in the first picture in my listing which is straight from the camera. UV Photographers: No NOT buy a full spectrum camera with an AR (antireflective) coated filter. It will reflect some UV! My cameras are the best UV imagers money can buy bar none.
The K-01 features the same 16-megapixel CMOS sensor found in the Pentax K-5 and the Nikon D7000. It is capable of shooting 6FPS stills and 1080p full HD video. With in camera image stabilization and sensor shake dust reduction (functional after the conversion) the Pentax K-01 is fairly up-to-date in the specs. All other manufacturers have redesigned mounts and lens lines EXCEPT PENTAX! So this camera sports a stainless steel, KAF2 bayonet lens mount, which is also compatible with KAF3, KAF, and KA mount lenses.
The myth of the ‘retained dust reduction system’: Using clear glass to replace the fluorine coated ultrasonic shake filter originally used is a gimmick. Clear glass adds another layer of reflectivity and distortion to your images. And dust will electrostatically ‘stick’ to uncoated clear glass regardless of how many times you actuate the ultrasonic shake filter. The fluorine coating on the original shake filter reduces reflectivity and distortion, and reduced the static attraction between the dust and the shake filter allowing for the filter to drop the dust when activated. Unfortunately it also filters IR and reflects some UV and has to be removed. Unlike others, I don’t sell gimmicks. Just the finest converted cameras in the world.
The camera’s condition: This is a factory demo camera and is mechanically and cosmetically as new with no evidence of use or wear (but please see my pictures for the details as they are my description). Do they guarantee f/1.8 sharpness in their DSLR conversions? Ask them! I also offer unlimited technical support and free camera cleaning and calibration should this camera ever require it.
