The Plan B Skateboards company was founded in 1991 by Mike Ternasky when he left H-Street Skateboards, Plan B Skateboards began in partnership with World Industries distribution. Ternasky wanted to put together a super elite team of riders and managed to convince numerous skateboarders to assist with the development of the new brand with an original line up of Danny Way, Collin McKay, Rodney Mullen, Mike Carroll, Matt Hensley and Rick Howard. Unfortunately, in 1993 Mike Ternasky was killed in a car accident this left the company in his wife's hands and she eventually put the team and company aside in 1998.

In 2005, with the financial backing of Syndrome Distribution, Danny Way and Collin McKay reformed Plan B Skateboards, maintaining new roles as company co-owners, as well as professional skaters and adopted skills learnt from Mike Ternasky during his time running the first phase of the company. Collin and Way added a group of professionally skateboarders to the Team which now consists of Paul Rodriguez, Ryan Sheckler, Torey Pudwill, PJ Ladd, Pat Duffy, Collin McKay and Danny Way. These are some of the biggest names in skateboarding thanks to wins at the Street League, Maloof money cup, Tampa Pro, X-Games and The Dew Tour.

Plan B has prevailed through the rough times and have created a brand that is now recognised globally throughout the skateboard community featuring top of the line skateboard decks that are made in North America by PS Stix. Plan B are set to release a their new highly anticipated full feature length skateboard dvd later on this year which is their first video release in six years, they have dropped video teasers online and this is certain to be a classic.
