The item for sale is a used Carl Zeiss KF 2 microscope in fine working condition. It is equipped with a total of four authentic Zeiss objective lenses: 3.2X/0.07, 10X/0.22, 40X/0.65, and 100X/1.25 (oil immersion). All of these are designed for 160 mm tube length and 0.17 mm cover glass thickness. The 40X and 100X lenses are spring loaded and retractable to help prevent damage to either the lenses or slides. The inclined binocular head of this microscope is in good functional condition and can be rotated to be used in any horizontal direction. It is outfitted with a pair of bona fide Zeiss 8X eyepieces. Everything on this microscope is in good condition optically and each of combination of objective and eyepiece lenses yields a nice sharp, high-contrast image (it IS a Zeiss, after all). The base of this microscope is circular and has a built in illuminator. The original bulb has been replaced by a halogen light of the sort used for more expensive models. This light is in good working condition and the intensity of illumination is controlled by means of a knob located on the right side of the base. Please note, however, that I cannot guarantee that the bulb will survive transport through the mail. Having said that, I can also state that I have yet to have one fail to arrive at its destination intact. Cosmetically, while the microscope is used, it is nevertheless in generally good condition. The finish of the head has places where damage to the original finish has been touched up. Please see the photographs for further details about the cosmetic condition. This is a precision instrument ready for whatever challenges laboratory or research use may present. I would be remiss, however, if I didn't also mention that this microscope would be an excellent gift for any young or old scientist in your life. Why settle for a Chinese toy, when you can have the real thing?
