I am selling a very rare PUMA knife set, the WAIDBESTECK set, composed by the famous 3588 WAIDBLATT and the small companion 3587 JAGDNICKER, mostly desired by collectors worldwide. Like the model HIRSCHFANGER  ( I am selling it in a different listing) , it had been developed under the patent design and supervision of the Oberforstmeister (Chief of Forestry), Walter Frevert, whose name is on the blade.

I have to underline that the production of this knifes started in 1956, nowadays they are still available, but the actual line is not Solingen handmade, but totally worked in China, from german steel billets, and there is no match between the older models and the actual ones. It was made of the special high carbon steel alloy named PUMASTER, patented by PUMA, Solingen.

It was higly considerated because of its strenght and durability, out of the long lasting razor sharpness. Unfortunately they changed to stainless steels to make knife owners life easier.

It is so deceiving nowadays to see the same knife models carrying the same name, they just added 11 to the model number, with average finish, blades not even by far comparable, and cheap design too, made in CHINA, selling for 1250 $.

The good old times knifes were individually hand made, from the billet to the final finish, with the fine workmanship that made Solingen and PUMA famous in the world.

My knife set, according to the serial numbers, has been made in 1980. It is unused, so I ask the price it deserves. I had to write USED just because of eBay rules.

I am moving to another country, then I will need some additional cash...

The original wooden box has the PUMA green plastic logo and the PUMA sticker with the model number on its left side.

It is in almost perfect conditions, just some storage signs.

Inside I had to remove the original green foam that was dried and going rotten leaving just thin green powder,

I guess that PUMA owners know well what I am talking about.

The leather sheath is perfect, no dings or scratches, it has still the unopened guarantee booklet with cord attached on it.

There is the still new original leather lanyard on the big WAIDBLATT. Stag horn handle with hexagonal sterling silver bolt.

Never used, never sharpened, with their matte finish intact, both retained the Rockwell test sticker as new.

May be some  point of rust owing to long storage by the former owner.

Anyway a piece of history.
