This is a 1/4 size violin labeled: Nicolaus Gagliano Filius Alexandri fecit Neap.  17. The violin does have significant wear on the player side of the violin. Please see pictures above for the best description. The strings tune, but they are old. The bow hair is functional, but I would recommend a rehair soon. The cosmetic wear aside, this is a nicer student model and sounds good.
