Original Art Nouveau Silver Pendant

I love this pendant, the design is fabulous - very Archibald Knox with the weaving whiplash going down to wire.

I've had it for some time as it presents a bit of a puzzle (plus, I subconsciously thought it may be a keeper!).

The chain is stamped - Silver MB&Co for Murrle Bennett and Co and is typical of the type of chain used by the wholesaler on this style of Arts and Crafts pieces. The piece itself is in hammered silver with rivet decoration and inset mother of pearl, green stained organic material and the mandatory houndstooth pearl suspended from the piece.

The rear of the pendant is stamped D.C&Co which is possibly a retailer.

Typical of the work of German makers from the Pforzheim area. Although, the fact that the chain hangs from the actual pendant

rather than jump rings that are fixed on the outer frame - makes me think it is possibly for the French market! Anyway I digress.....
