Mixed-media Maleficent statue inspired by her appearance in Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty animated film (1959) featuring a fully sculpted, hand-painted polystone body, including a separate head with ‘staring’ portrait that includes an integrated horned headdress and collar, as well as a separate ‘gesturing’ hand – which are both secured in-place by strong magnets that are integrated into the neck and forearm.  Non-removable fabric costume includes a black and purple layered overgown (also known as a houppelande) with flaring dagged sleeves and hemline resembling flames, featuring an interlined plastron with purple satin trim and worn over a fitted magenta taffeta skirt (also known as a kirtle) with magenta taffeta partial sleeves, covering the forearms.

Maleficent stands in a classic pose from the film’s christening scene where she addresses the court and bestows her “gift” upon Princess Aurora.  As in this scene from the film, Maleficent gestures with her left hand, and with her other hand, she holds her iconic staff upon which her raven familiar, Diablo, is perched – which is a separate accessory made of hand-painted metal and polystone. Original concept artwork by Marc Davis for the character design of Maleficent also depicts a similar pose. Maleficent peg-mounts into a separate round stone-effect base with raised thorn motif inspired by the final battle scene of the film.
