This listing is for the old bronze vase that you see in the photos. I acquired it at an estate sale where I was not told its history. I believe that it is old enough to be considered vintage and possibly antique. I am guessing that it is Japanese and from the early part of the twentieth century. I leave it to the buyer to determine its age and origin.

I find the color of the metal on the outside to be unusual. I think that it is probably some kind of unusual bronze. The outside color looks looks kind of golden and slightly green to me. The inside looks dark brown which is more like bronze usually looks. I'm pretty sure that it is bronze but I leave it to the buyer to decide what kind of copper alloy it is.

The vase feels relatively thick and heavy as I would expect a good bronze vase to be. It measures close to 10 ¾ inches tall. It weighs close to 5 pounds 5.4 ounces. The largest circumference is about 26 inches which gives it a width of about 8.3 inches. There are 7 birds that I think are cranes.

As you can see, there is a mark on the bottom that I cannot read. I think that it might be a maker's mark or signature. I leave it to the buyer to decide what it is.

The condition is much like you see it in 17 photos after the general description. There is a slight and small depression between the necks of two cranes that I think is a slight dent. It barely shows in a photo almost at the center of an area between the necks of two cranes. There is a small cluster of tiny dents in that same general area that you can see in a close-up. There is some remains of tape glue on the bottom. The rim of the opening slopes down some on one side. You can see what I mean in a photo. I think that it was probably been made that way. There are a couple of tiny dents on the beak of one of the birds. There is uneven tarnish with darker areas and spots. There is some kind of white substance around the edges of the birds that I think is probably verdigris or oxidation. I easily removed some of it with a fingernail after taking the photos. There is a a little white haze here and there on the inside that I think is oxidation.  Otherwise, it is generally fine and as shown. My photos should give you a good idea of its general condition.

I guarantee this vase to be as described and represented by the photos. The photos are part of the description. Please look at all of them.

Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there are shadows and reflections. On my monitor, the color is not quite as dark or rich as the actual color. Different monitors may show different colors.

The dollar bill is for size comparison. It is not part of the listing.
