Description: | Ten years ago the Gods of the Scotch Whisky Association cast their eyes upon The Spice Tree and were displeased by what they saw. Compass Box had violated some ancient law (penned circa 2000) that sought to define the true nature of Scotch Whisky. Their innovative approach to maturation was deemed to be heretical and The Spice Tree was banished forever - or so it seemed. Some years later and the Spice Tree returned, recreated by the Whiskymakers at Compass box with the assistance of their oak supplier in France, and coopers in Scotland. The new whisky had very similar character and flavour profile to the original, but crucially, did not fall foul of any SWA regulations. To mark the 10 year anniversary of The Spice Tree being banned, Compass Box have launched a new, limited edition, supercharged version that includes older components and a higher proportion of sherry cask matured whisky. The result is an extravagant, full flavoured whisky packed with an abundence of fruit and bold, complex spice. Only 12240 bottles were made so get some while it lasts! |
