     For the past year, I have been buying compact retail fire starting kits in the effort to find the right kit for personal Every Day Carry and to include in small or pocket Survival Kits.  I was not able to find one that met my quality standards:  So I decided to build my own.  I have developed this extremely versatile, lightweight, and comprehensive kit from HIGH QUALITY items.

Total Kit Dimensions (Packed) in Container:   2" Long x 9/16" Diameter

(1) Plastic Tube Container, Snap closure Lid:  This little plastic tube is extremely lightweight but durable and easily holds the fire starting gear and tools.  The snap-cap securely keeps the tube closed and the entire kit is packaged with heat-shrink plastic to keep the contents safe and dry until needed for use in the field.

(2) Tinder Quick (Spark-Lite) Fire Starting Tabs:  These little "old reliables" are probably the best dry tinder tabs on the market today.  The key to using this type of tab is to really fluff it up into fine strands and threads.  It will catch a spark and light even under damp or wet conditions.  Long burn time for it's size and they can be cut into pieces or pulled apart in order to stretch the volume of available tinder.

(1) Ferro Rod/Fire Rod:  This small little Ferro rod has the ability to throw large amounts of sparks in order to get your tinder bundle started.   Very effective for it's small size

(1) Steel Striker Tool:  This small striker has an east to hold handle and a larger surface area for striking the Ferro Rod.  The striking surface also has a serrated edge that could also be used as a little cutting surface.  Great little tool!

(4) Strike Anywhere Matches, White Tip:  These brand name White Tip Matches will get the job done when conditions require a little more than a spark source for fire starting.  Wooden matches
