D1 Grand Prix / D1GP (All Japanese professional drift Championship) is the motor sports for the purpose of "drift", held from 2001. The big difference from typical motor sport to compete the speed, is that they compete point of the powerful and artistry in the drifting by high performance car. The contested in the series 6-8 races per year also held in overseas.
This is the tuning car model kit produced by "A'PEX (now called to "Apexi")" based on Mazda RX-7 FD3S. "APEX" Brand is the one of famous Japanese tuning shops especially for exhaust system.
MAZDA RX-7
Mazda RX-7 FD3S type is one of real sports cars that represents Japan, equipped with the rotary engine. This FD3S type is the third generation of RX-7, it has been started to sell in 1991 as the successor of FC type.
This model slightly downsized the body from the previous model, under the pure sports concept, with the 13B rotary engine equipped with sequential twin-turbo, which performed initially 255 ps. But it finally has been powered up to 280 ps up to the self-regulation limit in Japan at that time.
RX-7 FD3S stopped sales in 2002 at last, due to the shrinking of the market. But it has still the popularity supported by the sports-oriented fan even today.
