This listing is for a nice antique Persian engraved Sterling Silver box with sapphire and ruby stones mounted on top.

The box has an intricately engraved all-over design with peacocks in the decoration on the top and floral design engraved on the sides. The top is embellished with five (5) cabochon sapphire stones and with eight (8) carved rubies in three sizes within the design. The stones are all bezel set and are tight within the silver Box has a hinged catch at front and hinged back with the two back hinges being tight with box opening and closing correctly. Box is solid silver and is unlined. 

The exterior of the box is in very good condition although the lid is slightly warped and doesn't close evenly (see photos).

No silver marks were found but silver tests to be of Sterling quality.

 Measures 1 7/8" high (not including height of stones), 6" long and 5 1/2" wide (including front closure).  Weighs 425 grams.
