GARY REEVES Sterling BOX with PIN / PENDANT LID Lone Mountain Turquoise 77.3 Grams Navajo
Fabulous Navajo silver box obtained directly from Gary Reeves. Top is a little over 2 inches in diameter - it fits tightly and is also designed to be either a pin or a pendant. There is one large (0.8 by 0.7 inch) Lone Mountain turquoise (Gary identified the turquoise for me) surrounded by seven smaller stones. The top overlaps the box at the rim; height is 1.25 inches, including the stones and the four small feet on the bottom. Total weight is 77.3 grams. Stamped decoration fully around the sides. Bottom is marked Sterling Gary Reeves. Dime is for size reference. The flash in the last picture washes out the deep blue color of the turquoise.
Gary Reeves (1962 - 2014, Navajo) is the older brother of Sunshine Reeves and the younger brother of David Reeves, who was so instrumental in teaching the craft to both Gary and Sunshine, as well as their half-brothers Darrel,Donovan and Andy Cadman. Gary had been smithing silver since the age of twelve. Gary's work, like that of his brothers and half-brothers, had won numerous awards for his silver work.
